Florent and Jeremy digitise the original using the portable scanner so as to capture it in a 3D format, on an STL file (Stereo Lithography). This digitalisation allows us to bring certain changes in the size and even to retouch it.
Once the model digitised, we can save it or use it to reproduce other models using 3D printers or other digital devices.
The robot does continuous passes of about 3 mm using diamond grinding wheels and multi-directional nozzle spray. Then, depending on the finishing desired, a fine and pointed tool will be used to obtain the desired results. Trimmed in this way, the sculpture normally does not have any sharp edge; the sculpture seems smooth and comprises of certain parts that have not been worked on, not being accessible by the grinding wheels. The work of the sculptor can now start.
